Baseball team no-hits Waco, advances to area round


The baseball team began their quest to defend their state championship Friday night by defeating the Waco Lions 8-0 in the bi-district playoff game in Mumford. The team combined for a no-hitter thanks to the performances on the mound by junior Kyle Richardson and freshman Travis Hester. “We came out fast and took care of business,” head coach Scott Holder said. “That’s what we talked about all week was coming out and beating them first and worry about the rest later.” The victory was led by the dominant outing by Richardson. Senior helps team charge into basketball playoffs


Senior Collin Lawson may not be the star of the boys basketball team, but he knows that his role on the team is essential to their ongoing success. “I’m more of a role player, I go and do the jobs my coaches ask of me,” Lawson said. “I’m not going to go out and try to prove a point. Precautions developed due to concern over concussions


Concussions have become a rising injury issue in athletics as a whole, and at CSHS, the athletic training staff has taken new approaches to reduce the risk of receiving one as well as treatment after an athlete has been diagnosed with one. “College Station ISD does baseline testing for athletes whether they are in cross country, tennis, gymnastics, football, soccer or any other sport,” head athletic trainer Chelsea Frashure said. Senior plays different roles on team


  Every team has their superstars, but for Senior Jake Georgiades, being a team player is more important to him than being the star. “I’m going to play hard and do whatever I can do to help the team win, whether that means I’m blocking or scoring touchdowns.” Georgiades said.
